BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - A valve failure is being blamed for the spill of nearly 11,000 gallons of oil at a well in Divide County.

North Dakota’s Department of Mineral Resources says Murex Petroleum reported that 260 barrels of oil were released and contained Saturday at the site about 7 miles south of Fortuna. A barrel holds 42 gallons.

A state inspector has been to the site and will continue to monitor the cleanup.
