MITCHELL, S.D. (AP) - The Mitchell Police Division is planning to give away a hundred $100 bills over the next several days thanks to a donation from an anonymous donor.

The Daily Republic (https://bit.ly/2gs22Fa ) reports the money will be given to random individuals during a traffic stop, call for service or casual interaction.

Chief of public safety Lyndon Overweg says the goal is for all of the 28 police officers to give away at least one $100 bill. Overweg says he has already delivered a $100 bill to a Mitchell resident who has been going through a challenging time with some serious medical problems.

A news release from the department says the anonymous donor selected the officers because of the challenges law enforcement officers have faced recently.
