GOLD HILL, Ore. (AP) - Residents in the southwest Oregon community of Gold Hill will be asked to boil their water early next week.

A city news release says the water will be shut down most of Monday while engineers replace valves.

After service is restored, city officials say everyone should boil their drinking water until the evening hours of Thursday, Dec. 22.

The precautionary measure is a guard against potentially harmful bacteria that could be in the supply due to Monday’s temporary shutdown.
