FRANKFORT, N.Y. (AP) - State police say one person has died and four others are hospitalized after a two-vehicle collision on a Mohawk Valley road.

Troopers say a 19-year-old man was driving a car on a road in the Herkimer County town of Frankfort just after midnight Monday when he crossed into the other lane and collided head-on with a Jeep.

Police say the 61-year-old woman driving the Jeep is listed in serious condition at a Syracuse hospital. Two women riding with her are in separate hospitals, including one who’s in serious condition.

Troopers say a third passenger, 42-year-old Christine Brooks of Mohawk, was taken to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Utica, where she was pronounced dead.

The 19-year-old man driving the car was treated at the Utica hospital for a leg injury.
