BROCKTON, Mass. (AP) - Officials say an investigation is underway after a Brockton 2-year-old died several days after he was found unresponsive.

Beth Stone, a spokeswoman for the office of Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz, told The Enterprise (https://bit.ly/2gUtLiZ ) Monday that the toddler died of his injuries at Massachusetts General Hospital around midnight Saturday. Stone didn’t comment on the nature of his injuries.

The boy had been hospitalized after police received a call for an unresponsive child at a Brockton apartment on Dec. 5.

A spokeswoman from the state Department of Children and Families said last week the agency received a report of the incident and was investigating.

Local and state police are also investigating the incident.
