GREENWICH, Conn. (AP) - Images criticized as racist that appeared on a children’s ride at a Connecticut holiday festival have been covered up.

The Greenwich Time reports (https://bit.ly/2hqnSei ) tape and signs reading “Happy Holidays” were put over the images at the Greenwich Reindeer Festival.

The pictures depicted a black cannibal with oversized red lips and a bone in his hair wearing a loin cloth and trying to cook a white man.

The owner of Sam Bridge Nursery, where the event was held, said on Monday he insisted on the change when he became aware of the complaints.

Tamara Ketler, head of event organizer TMK Sports and Entertainment, told the newspaper over the weekend the train is “absolutely not racially inappropriate.”

She said later they don’t want to offend anyone or disrupt the holiday season.
