ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) - Fairfax County Police say a man poured flammable liquid on his toddler’s mother and tried to set her on fire while all three of them were in a car.

The department said in a news release that on Tuesday morning, the woman drove to the man’s home to drop their 1-year-old child. Police say when she got to the man’s home in Alexandria, he jumped into the car and an argument ensued.

Investigators say the man poured a flammable liquid on the woman and tried to set it on fire, with the child still in the car. Neither the woman nor the child was injured.

Authorities arrested 26-year-old Lamar Thomas and charged him with attempted malicious wounding and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
