LOS ANGELES (AP) - Authorities have arrested a driver who caused a car to crash into a Los Angeles apartment building, killing a 5-year-old boy inside.

KCBS-TV reports (https://cbsloc.al/2hiDv9F ) that police say the hit-and-run driver turned himself in on Friday and is now out on bail.

Grainy security video of the Dec. 1 crash shows a Chevy Cruze slamming into an apartment building after trying to avoid a Saab that made a sudden U-turn. The Chevy crashed through the wall of Luis Sanchez’ bedroom, pinning the boy underneath the car.

The boy’s parents and three other children were also injured.

Police later identified the Saab driver as a 28-year-old man and tracked him down from a piece of his car’s grill that was left at the crash scene.

The Chevy driver is also facing criminal charges.
