PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Police say a person of interest in a Providence homicide is in custody after leading officers on a chase, totaling his vehicle and crashing into three others.

Maj. David Lapatin says the man was arrested following the multi-vehicle crash in Providence on Monday afternoon. He will be questioned about the slaying of 36-year-old Adalberto Martinez, who was found shot to death inside an auto body shop on Friday.

Lapatin says officers had been looking for a red car in connection with the homicide investigation. He says a patrol officer spotted the car and a chase ensued. The vehicle sped through an intersection crashed into three other cars.

He says the driver and his two passengers were hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries. Police have not identified him.
