VICKSBURG, Miss. (AP) - Some of the charges to get into the Vicksburg National Military Park will go up in the new year.

The park says in a press release Tuesday that the money will go to pay for maintenance and improvement projects.

The cost of an annual pass will go from $25 to $30 and the charge to bring a vehicle into the park will go from $12 to $15. The per person and motorcycle costs will remain the same.

Specifically, the fee increases will go toward repairing and painting cannon carriages, improving restrooms and replacing worn out exhibit panels.

People can still purchase an annual pass at the 2016 rate that will be good throughout 2017.
