BUCKEYE, Ariz. (AP) - A woman told police after a rollover crash that her baby was thrown from the car, but later admitted there was no baby in the vehicle.

Investigators say a man and a woman were westbound on Interstate 10 near Buckeye early Tuesday when the woman lost control and rolled through the median. When Arizona Department of Public Safety and Buckeye Fire crews arrived to treat the two patients the woman said her baby was thrown from the car.

Officials searched by ground and air to find the infant but turned up nothing. The woman ultimately admitted that there was no baby in the vehicle.

Drug paraphernalia was found in the car and officials believe the suspects were impaired at the time of the crash.

The vehicle had been reported stolen.
