LAS VEGAS (AP) - Las Vegas police say a suspect who exchanged gunfire with officers before barricading himself in a home for hours has been safely taken into custody.

Sgt. Jeff Clark says the suspect and a person who was with him in the house on Tuesday appear to be unhurt. No officers were injured.

Officers were responding to a domestic disturbance at about 10 a.m. on Tuesday when they encountered a male suspect who was armed with a rifle outside a home on Coral Cactus Court. That’s near Decatur Boulevard and Robindale Road in the southwest part of the Las Vegas valley.

Shots were fired and the suspect went into a nearby home. The situation was resolved about five hours later.
