WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. (AP) - A 45-year-old Springfield, Massachusetts, man has been arrested in Vermont and charged with holding up the Mascoma Savings Bank branch in the town of Hartland. Police arrested Stephen Silva on Monday, two days after the alleged heist.

After getting information about Silva’s alleged involvement in the robbery, police searched his motel room and vehicle on Monday. They say they found evidence including clothing matching that worn by the suspect in Saturday’s robbery.

Police say the vehicle Silva had been driving was determined to have been stolen in Massachusetts. The Connecticut registration plate on the vehicle was also determined to have been stolen.

It could not immediately be determined if Silva has a lawyer. He’s to be arraigned Tuesday in the criminal court in White River Junction.
