PAROWAN, Utah (AP) - Authorities are investigating the death of an Iron County Jail inmate who died after being medically cleared by the Cedar City Hospital earlier in the day.

The Spectrum reports (https://bit.ly/2hvBJQf ) that the man, who has not been identified, went into cardiac arrest at the jail on Dec. 6 after being arrested for disorderly conduct and trespassing the day before.

Authorities have not identified the man.

Parowan police involuntarily committed the man on Dec. 5 after he was heard making suicidal comments while being transported to the hospital. Officers took him for a mental health evaluation after finding him barricaded at a bus station.

The man did not express any concerns about his physical health. He was determined to be fit to be released and was booked into the county jail on Dec. 5.
