MIAMI (AP) - A baby ball python is recovering after being found with its mouth sewn shut outside a South Florida home.

Lt. Scott Mullin of the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Venom Unit posted pictures of the tiny snake on social media. The photos show what appears to be brown strings hanging from the snake’s mouth. Mullin said he took the snake to a friend who is also a snake breeder and together they removed the stiches.

He wrote the snakes are very docile by nature and make great pets. Florida wildlife officials say the snakes rarely grow to be more than four feet long.

NBC 6 (https://tinyurl.com/z96afuf ) reported Wednesday Mullin got a call about the snake from a family who found it outside their home.
