SEBEWAING, Mich. (AP) - Consumers Energy is dedicating an $8.3 million compressor station that will support natural gas service to residential, commercial and agricultural customers in Huron and Tuscola counties.

A ribbon-cutting event is scheduled for Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Sebewaing Township Hall in Huron County. Speakers will include representatives of the township, Consumers Energy and the Michigan Agri-Business Association, as well as state lawmakers.

The station uses a 1,035-horsepower engine to compress natural gas and boost pressure to move it through pipelines for delivery to customers.

Consumers has provided gas service to the eastern Lower Peninsula’s “Thumb” region since the 1960s.
