PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - A former Maine police officer charged with sending explicit pictures of himself to an undercover agent he thought was a 13-year-old girl is set to be sentenced next month in federal court.

The Portland Press Herald reports (https://bit.ly/2gK17n8 ) 25-year-old Garrett Brosnan agreed to waive indictment and plead guilty to sending obscene material to a minor girl in September. He faces up to 10 years in prison when he’s sentenced Jan. 11.

The former Brunswick police officer was arrested in June. Federal officials say he had been under investigation since October 2015, when the parents of a 13-year-old girl in Arizona reported that someone had engaged their daughter in an online conversation that was sexual in nature.

Brosnan resigned from the Brunswick Police Department in June.
