LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) - Travelers who want to enroll in a Transportation Security Administration program that lets them speed through security lines at airports can take advantage of a temporary enrollment site at Lynchburg Regional Airport this week.

The temporary site at the airport lasts through Friday and lets travelers apply to the TSA PreCheck program.

PreCheck allows fliers who have successfully enrolled in the program to leave on their shoes and light outerwear and belt in select TSA airport screening lanes. They can also keep their laptop in its case and liquids/gels in a carry-on bag.

U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents can apply, must pay an $85 fee and will undergo a background check before approval is granted. The approval is good for five years.
