SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - A Spokane County jury has convicted a decorated Iraq War veteran of murdering three members of his ex-wife’s family and torching their rural home to try and cover his tracks.

31-year-old Roy H. Murry faces a sentence of life in prison.

The Spokesman-Review says the jury began deliberations on Monday afternoon and returned its verdict Wednesday morning.

Much of the trial focused on Murry’s paranoia and delusions, which included his belief he was a shapeshifter able to change into animals. He also believed that his wife and mother-in-law were working as spies for Russia.

Murry was convicted of the killings of Terry and Lisa Canfield, and John Constable in May of 2015.

He was charged with three counts of premeditated first-degree murder with aggravating circumstances.
