SKOWHEGAN, Maine (AP) - Town selectman have recognized a Skowhegan, Maine, police officer who crawled through thick smoke to pull a woman and her 4-year-old son from a burning mobile home.

Officer Timothy Williams was honored on Tuesday night.

Williams was first to arrive at the scene and found 24-year-old Andrea Curtis and her son Tyler Curtis-Benson inside in the living room.

Williams administered CPR on the two until they could breathe again.

Both were taken to hospitals in serious condition.

Curtis’ father, Brian, says she remains hospitalized in Portland in critical condition. He says her son is headed home.

Brian Curtis called Williams “a true hero” and says the honor is well deserved.
