ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) - Democratic U.S. Rep. Don Beyer of Virginia is calling on Congress to delay next week’s electoral college vote in light of the CIA’s conclusion that Russia intruded into last month’s elections to help Donald Trump win.

Beyer said Wednesday that Congress should postpone the meeting until each elector can receive an intelligence briefing.

He says electors should have the chance to receive “all information relevant to this interference.”

A number of electors, who are scheduled to meet Monday, have released an “open letter” to Director of National Intelligence James Clapper requesting information about ongoing investigations on ties between Trump and “Russian government interference in the election.”

Beyer, who represents northern Virginia’s 8th District, made the comments a day after Sen. Harry Reid of Nevada said electors should get intelligence briefings.
