SEATTLE (AP) - Authorities say 19 people have been arrested and 44 pounds of methamphetamine was seized in connection with a drug distribution ring south of Seattle.

The Department of Justice said in a news release that 17 of the 19 people were arrested Thursday in Washington state while two arrests were made in Arizona and in California.

An investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the West Sound Narcotics Enforcement Team into the alleged drug ring began in 2014.

U.S. Attorney Annette L. Hayes says 24 search warrants were served in Washington and Arizona in the case.

Hayes says on Thursday, law enforcement also seized over 50 firearms and more than $50,000 in cash.

Those indicted in Washington are from Chehalis, Centralia, Kelso, Olympia, Port Orchard, Shelton, Bremerton, Gig Harbor, Poulsbo, and Hoodsport. They range in age from 22 to 58.
