JONESBORO, Ga. (AP) - Three children are living with a relative after being found in a Clayton County home with feces, urine and garbage on the inside and three decomposed dogs outside.

Sgt. Ashanti Marbury told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Wednesday (https://on-ajc.com/2hxigin ) that 33-year-old Ki-Kito Riki Townsend and 32-year-old Kristina Leigh Prince were arrested, each on three counts of cruelty to children in the first-degree and three counts of animal cruelty.

An adult dog was in such a “severely decomposed state,” police believe the pet had been dead for as many as 50 days. Animal control also said at least one dead dog was in a cage in the home in the unincorporated village of Rex.

Marbury says authorities made the discovery Sunday afternoon after getting a tip from a concerned citizen.
