TOLLESON, Ariz. (AP) - Fire and hazardous materials crews are working to locate and stop a natural-gas leak in the Phoenix suburb of Tolleson.

Phoenix Fire Department officials say crews were called out Thursday evening to investigate a strong odor of natural gas at 83rd Avenue and Buckeye Road.

There’s no immediate word on the source of the gas leak, but authorities say it may be coming from the sewer system.

Crews are using flammable gas meters to locate the source of the odor and identify any hazards.

Fire units from Phoenix, Glendale, Avondale, Tolleson, Peoria and Goodyear are on the scene.

Authorities say Buckeye Road is closed for several blocks from the intersection in both directions.

The city of Tolleson is located about 13 miles east of Phoenix.
