JENNINGS, La. (AP) - Jefferson Davis Parish has contracts to fix 10 bridges closed by state inspectors and has agreed to ask for bids to fix an 11th.

The American Press (https://bit.ly/2gFYxeL ) reports that the Police Jury awarded bids Wednesday totaling more than $600,000 for the first 10 projects.

One bridge has been closed since August. Parish Road Administrator Randy Ringuet says two others must be replaced.

He says the parish will begin fixing other bridges before the next state inspection to ensure they can remain open.

Work on the first 10 bridges is expected to begin in early 2017 and be completed by spring.

L&R; Construction of Kaplan was awarded six projects totaling about $321,000. Matt Guinn Construction of Jennings has the other four contracts.
