SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a man brought to a Syracuse hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound has died.

Syracuse police say officers were called around 10:45 p.m. Wednesday to Upstate University Hospital after a wounded man in his late 30s arrived in a private vehicle. Police say he had been shot in the back and died a short time later from his injuries.

Police on Thursday identified the man as 39-year-old Jason Davis of Syracuse.

Police say the man was shot on Ballantyne Road.

No arrests have been made. The investigation into the killing is underway.
