CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (AP) - A Long Island landscaper has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for plotting to kidnap and terrorize his former lawyer.

Newsday reports (https://nwsdy.li/2h3G6RU ) a state Supreme Court judge in Suffolk County said the sentence given to 49-year-old Glenn Terry of Holtsville was warranted because “the evidence shows he is dangerous.”

Terry hired Frank Tinari in 2002 to sue companies Terry believed were responsible for severe burns he suffered when he fell into a bathtub full of scalding water at his home. The attorney eventually negotiated a $450,000 settlement, but Terry spent the money and sought to have the case reopened.

Terry became enraged at Tinari when he explained that wasn’t possible.

Prosecutors say Terry bought weapons he planned to use to abduct Tinari. Terry was convicted in October of attempted kidnapping and weapons charges.
