WHITE HALL, W.Va. (AP) - Authorities have released the name of a suspect who was fatally shot by police officers outside a West Virginia Wal-Mart over the weekend.

State police spokesman Lt. Michael Baylous tells news outlets that 39-year-old Randy Lee Cumberledge of Philippi was killed during the shooting in the store parking lot Sunday in White Hall.

Authorities say officers were trying to serve Cumberledge a bailpiece for outstanding drug charges when he drove his car aggressively at them, prompting two officers to shoot the suspect.

Baylous says the two officers involved in the shooting were from the White Hall Police Department and the Marion County Sheriff’s Department. Officials have not released the officers’ names or the races of those involved.

Shoppers were placed on lockdown inside the store because of the gunshots.
