OREM, Utah (AP) - Police in Utah say they have arrested a man for driving a cherry picker lift while intoxicated.

The Deseret News reports (https://bit.ly/2hpAUv1 ) that Orem Police Lt. Craig Martinez says it is one of the most bizarre DUI arrests he has made.

Martinez says the 39-year-old man decided to take the cherry picker for a spin around his Orem neighborhood Sunday night after drinking alcohol and taking prescription drugs. Police say the man didn’t travel very far but could have put himself and others at risk if he had continued driving the heavy construction equipment.

Martinez says he has never heard of a cherry picker DUI in his 19 years in law enforcement.

He says he has seen some odd DUI arrests “but this one takes the cake.”
