GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) - UNC Greensboro officials say the school will build two wetlands on campus this spring.

The News & Record of Greensboro reports (https://bit.ly/2hxV0RD) the school will create the wetlands on a 34-acre tract on the north side of campus.

One of the wetlands will be built in the woods near UNCG’s music building. The other will go between a creek and the university’s athletic fields.

The wetlands will be built in March and maintained by students, professors and other university employees. The university has talked about an on-campus wetlands project for two years and formed a committee in 2015 to study the idea.

UNCG will use $46,112 from the Duke Energy Water Resources Fund and $8,000 from the UNCG Green Fund to pay for the wetlands.
