PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Rhode Island’s unemployment rate dropped slightly in November to 5.3 percent.

The state Department of Labor and Training said Thursday the jobless rate is down two-tenths of a percentage point from the October rate of 5.5 percent.

In November 2015, the unemployment rate in Rhode Island was 5.5 percent.

The department says the state added 400 jobs since October, for a total of 4,200 jobs since the start of the year.

The number of residents who were unemployed decreased by 1,500 from the October figure, to 29,200 people

Nationally, the U.S. unemployment rate in November was 4.6 percent, down three-tenths of a percentage point from October.
