INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Authorities say a fire at an Indianapolis apartment complex has displaced about 75 people.

The fire department says the fire happened Thursday night at the 3-story Sawmill Apartments and seven people were evacuated from the building by firefighters. No injuries were reported, but one person was checked at the scene. A cat also was rescued.

The fire apparently started in the attic and the department says four of the building’s 18 units were heavily damaged.

The fire was under control in about an hour. According to preliminary information, the fire department says the cause is believed to be electrical.

The American Red Cross was working with the fire department to arrange shelter for affected residents amid cold temperatures.
