PUNTA GORDA, Fla. (AP) - Firefighters say they found two bodies inside a burning car in southwest Florida.

Charlotte County Fire/EMS spokesman Skip Conroy said in a news release that firefighters found the car fully engulfed in flames when they arrived last Thursday. The car was on an unpaved road leading to a group home for troubled youth.

The bodies were discovered after the fire was extinguished.

Investigators say the fire is labeled as suspicious and the gender and identity of the victims is not currently known. Conroy says autopsies will be performed later Friday.

The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office and the fire marshal are investigating.
