NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (AP) - A former western New York police officer has been charged along with two other people with selling cocaine to undercover cops.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Buffalo says 28-year-old Stephanie Costanzo of Niagara Falls was initially arrested last month after an undercover detective bought drugs from her boyfriend.

The Niagara Falls Police Department requested that federal authorities take over the investigation, and on Tuesday new drug charges were filed against Costanzo, her 32-year-old boyfriend and a 31-year-old woman. Federal prosecutors say the trio was selling cocaine and marijuana.

Police officials say Costanzo was placed on leave without pay following her arrest on Nov. 9. She has since resigned from the force.

It couldn’t be determined if she has a lawyer.
