ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Much of New Mexico is expected to see blustery winter weather with snow and strong winds at the beginning of the weekend as a storm system sweeps across the state.

Forecasters say strong winds and heavy snow will reduce visibility and pack some roadways with snow and ice in northern New Mexico while strong winds are expected across much of the state, including the eastern plains.

A National Weather Service winter storm warning for Friday evening through mid-morning Saturday says snow accumulations will range between 3 and 7 inches in the far northwest highlands and the upper Rio Grande Valley.

Between 10 and 20 inches of snow are likely in the San Juan Mountains above Chama and 5 to 10 inches elsewhere in the northern mountains.
