OIL CITY, Pa. (AP) - The state Department of Transportation has lifted a 45 mph speed limit restriction on interstate highways in northwestern Pennsylvania.

PennDOT had limited the speed limits on Interstates 79 and 90 due to a winter storm before lifting the limits early Friday.

PennDOT says the interstates are clear and safe for normal travel, and is continuing to treat other roads in the region.

Lake effect snow was blamed for a 59-vehicle pileup near DuBois on Interstate 80 on Thursday. Three people suffered moderate injuries. There are no speed limit restrictions on that road Friday.
