JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) - The Tennessee Board of Regents has appointed Allana R. Hamilton as president of Jackson State Community College.

Hamilton has been vice president for academic affairs at Northeast State Community College in Blountville since 2010 and as interim for two years before that.

A search committee chose four finalists for the post, and Board of Regents Chancellor David Gregory recommended Hamilton on Dec. 8. The regents unanimously approved the recommendation Thursday.

Hamilton will assume her duties on Jan. 10. She succeeds Bruce Blanding, who retired in September after leading the college since 2004. Horace Chase is interim president.
