WATFORD CITY, N.D. (AP) - Watford City will hold a special election on Feb. 21 to fill the mayor’s seat.

Mayor Brent Sanford began serving as the state’s lieutenant governor on Thursday. City Councilman Phil Riley is serving as Watford City’s interim mayor.

The Bismarck Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/2gQ0it9 ) that so far, two people have announced they’re running for mayor. Justin Voll is a bank president and former city councilman. Gregg Schuetze is a businessman and a member of the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission.
