SUPERIOR, Ariz. (AP) - Commercial trucks traveling westbound along U.S. 60 will have to stop and have their brakes inspected as of Tuesday in an effort to keep construction workers safe.

The Arizona Department of Transportation says trucks will be required to stop for checks in the Oak Flat area.

Trucks that have bad brakes pose safety hazards to workers along the road because the grade is steep.

ADOT says it will check brakes weekdays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. until crews are done with work in Superior area next summer.
