ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say they’ve charged a man in connection with a fatal shooting at a hotel in downtown Rochester earlier this year.

The Rochester Police Department announced Thursday that 23-year-old Luis Arroyo of Rochester has been charged with manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon.

He’s accused in the slaying of 19-year-old Brandon Spears. Police say Spears was shot in the upper body last June in a 10th-floor hallway at the Radisson Hotel.

Police say the U.S. Marshals assisted in arresting Arroyo, who pleaded not guilty during his arraignment Friday morning. It couldn’t be determined if he has an attorney who could comment on the charges.

Authorities say Arroyo fired a gun on June 12, causing a bullet to strike the hallway floor and ricochet into Spear’s chest. He later died at a hospital.
