BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - In a story Dec. 2 about Governor-elect Doug Burgum’s inaugural celebration, The Associated Press reported that he would take the oath of office on Jan. 3. That will be a ceremonial swearing-in, and he will take a formal oath of office before he takes office Dec. 15.

A corrected version of the story is below:

Burgum inaugural celebration set for Jan. 4

Governor-elect Doug Burgum is sending out invitations to his inaugural, and everyone’s welcome

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - Governor-elect Doug Burgum is sending out invitations to his inaugural, and everyone’s welcome.

The inaugural is billed as “a fun-filled evening of celebration with great music and dancing.” It’s scheduled at the Bismarck Event Center for Jan. 4, a day after the Republican takes a ceremonial oath of office and delivers his first State of the State address.

The event is free, though the website to register invites people who are interested in sponsoring it to get in touch.

Burgum is succeeding GOP Gov. Jack Dalrymple, who didn’t seek re-election. Burgum will take a formal oath of office before he takes office on Dec. 15.
