MIDDLETOWN, Del. (AP) - A construction company worker had his leg amputated after an industrial accident in Middletown.

The News Journal of Wilmington (https://delonline.us/2fZVG2X ) reports that the incident occurred Thursday morning after the unidentified man injured his leg by stepping into the path of a milling machine.

Middletown Police Department spokesman Mike Iglio says that the man was flown by state police helicopter to a hospital, where his leg was amputated from the knee down.

The man was in stable but critical condition Thursday night.

Iglio says the Occupational Safety and Health Administration was notified and has responded to investigate.
