GAINESVILLE, Va. (AP) - A Gainesville day care worker is facing neglect charges after authorities say a 3-year-old girl left the facility unnoticed and walked to a nearby business.

Prince William County police say in a statement that officers responded Nov. 19 to a Gainesville business for a report of child neglect. The caller had found the young girl alone and could not find her family.

Officers determined that the child walked out of Kiddie Academy by herself.

Police say the girl was unharmed and released to her family.

At the time the girl left the day care center, she had been in the care of 23-year-old Kiddie Academy employee Nayoung Park. Park turned herself in to police on Wednesday. She is charged with felony child neglect.

It’s unclear if Park has an attorney.
