PHOENIX (AP) - Arizona Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick has shut down her Washington, D.C., office as she prepares to leave office at the end of the year.

Kirkpatrick announces the closure Thursday and says her Washington staff will stay on to answer constituent questions through the end of the month. Offices in Tuba City, Show Low, Globe and Marana will close at the end of business Friday.

Her Flagstaff and Casa Grande offices will close on Dec. 15.

The three-term Democrat unsuccessfully challenged Sen. John McCain in November’s election.

She’s being replaced in the 1st Congressional District by Democrat Tom O’Halleran, who beat Republican Paul Babeu for the seat.

O’Halleran takes office Jan. 3 and will open his own offices.
