WARRENVILLE, Ill. (AP) - Police say three people are dead following a wrong-way crash involving two cars along Interstate 88 in suburban Chicago.

Illinois State Police say the crash happened shortly before 1 a.m. Friday along the interstate in the Warrenville and Naperville area. Police say a Toyota Camry driven by 30-year-old Domenic Andreoni of Elgin was heading eastbound in the westbound lanes when it collided head-on with a Chrysler 300.

Police say Andreoni was pronounced dead at the scene along with the Chrysler’s driver 32-year-old Ali Erhaima of Aurora and passenger 40-year-old Shiva Inampudi of Naperville.

Westbound traffic was closed and diverted off the interstate as crews responded, but the freeway was reopened Friday morning.

This story has been corrected to show Andreoni lived in Elgin, not Elign.
