ENFIELD, Conn. (AP) - Police in Enfield say a young man on a skateboard has been killed by a driver who left the scene.

Chief Carl Sferrazza says the skateboarder was struck on Route 5 at about 1 a.m. Friday. Responding officers found the victim lying in the road near Orlando Drive.

The victim’s name has not been released pending notification of family, but he is between 18 and 20 years old.

The vehicle that struck the skateboarder was believed to be heading north.

Police have not released a description of the vehicle but are asking anyone with information to call them.

The chief says investigators are looking for debris in the street to determine the make and model of vehicle.
