ROCKLEDGE, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a police officer shot and wounded a teenager while responding to a burglary call in central Florida.

Local news organizations report the 17-year-old was in stable condition at a hospital after the shooting late Thursday in Rockledge.

No officers were injured in the shooting.

According to a police incident report, two teens had been breaking into cars and fled in a white vehicle, which police tried to stop. The report says the vehicle hit a police cruiser and ended up in a ditch. Authorities add that one teen ran and was later arrested.

Authorities didn’t say what led to the shooting or whether the teens were armed. The names or race of the officers or the suspects weren’t released.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating.
