ESTERO, Fla. (AP) - Officials say two trappers were injured while trying to capture an alligator at a southwest Florida country club.

Local media outlets report that the men were trying to catch the 8-foot-long reptile Friday morning at Wildcat Run Golf & Country Club in Estero.

Fire officials say the alligator bit one trapper on the hand, and the second trapper sustained cuts to his hand while trying to help the first. Both trappers were taken to a nearby hospital. Their injuries weren’t considered life-threatening.

Officials say the alligator was killed.
