LOS ANGELES (AP) - A truckload of wheelchairs remains missing but the Los Angeles nonprofit that intended to send them to needy people in Indonesia says donors have covered the $12,000 cost of replacing the 80 chairs.

City News Service reports the truck was stolen Tuesday night or Wednesday morning from a gated lot at the Van Nuys offices of Global Mobility.

Community groups and businesses responded with donations.

The stolen wheelchairs were intended to be part of a shipment scheduled to be loaded onto a shipping container bound for Indonesia and distributed to disabled children and adults.
