PASADENA, Calif. (AP) - The California Department of Transportation is selling homes it purchased decades ago in anticipation of the planned State Route 710 extension through Pasadena and surrounding cities.
KCBS-TV reports (https://cbsloc.al/2hPyGTO ) that Caltrans purchased 460 lots between Pasadena and Alhambra in the 1950s and 1960s in order to demolish them ahead of the freeway extension. Decades of delays and legal challenges stalled the extension and now 42 of those properties are on the market.
The 42 lots up for sale are not currently being considered for any other projects.
Current occupants of the 42 residential properties were notified Friday of conditional offers. Eligible occupants will be able to purchase the properties at discounted prices.
